I’ve been saying the past few years that shoes have been less than exciting. Sandals haven’t seemingly evolved in the past 5 years. I think that’s why there was a collective freak out when mesh ballet flats emerged because, finally—some newness in the mix!
And now this summer is turning out to be the summer of the metal ball sandal, which I’m digging. I think it’s really just telling us how much we needed some newness in the shoe department. So if you’re obliged, check out my sandal roundup here (and there’s some examples of what I rounded up below).
Some highlights:
I’m obsessed with the Amanu brand this summer—new to me!
Just ordered these from Margaux because my flats are so comfortable.
I have some Flattered boots so it’s a brand to keep an eye on—these are gorgeous.
Zara leather with metal ball—for $75

I’ve said it before, but it takes me awhile to buy shoes and accessories and I just haven’t been wow-ed the past few years. And suddenly, I am seeing interesting details again—and it’s making me excited. I’m feeling like it’s 2008 again when gladiator sandals first emerged and there were metal studs all over our Jeffrey Campbell sandals; and that’s a good thing.
Although we look back and wince at some of the things we wore, we were taking risks and having fun. I love classic style a LOT, but I also like newness and to incorporate trends here and there. Take me back to that feeling of "this trend is awesome” again, please!
And you’ll be hearing from me in a few days when I round up Memorial Day sales—see you soon! x
