I’ve been checking all the wellness boxes over the past few weeks, so let me remind you to make your doctors appointments. As a longtime hypochondriac, I am religious about going to the doctor and staying in touch with my body—and unfortunately, it’s gotten a little worse as I’ve gotten older and have more aches and pains. Most recently, I requested a GI appointment and when she suggested an endoscopy, I also asked for a colonoscopy because of family history—and she obliged (It can be hard to get insurance to cover it if you’re under 45). All is well and I’m so glad to check that off my list until the next one
BTW, yes the prep is as bad as you heard but ultimately, it’s only a few hours long and if I can do it, you can do it, too. I hate drinking gross drinks—like despise it—and I made it. I found myself sucking on lemons after a sip and it helped, slightly.
In more fun wellness news, I got my first face laser a few weeks ago at The Fitz (location is in Old Town but they’re opening one in the North Shore SOON—can’t wait). Suzie, who is the only person to ever touch my face with injectables (though I have sent many, many people to The Fitz and everyone has said said their “person” is the best—can’t go wrong), administered the laser and said that the Moxi laser is a great year round laser with minimal downtime.
As you can see from the image below, it looked like a sunburn for a few days but it was totally fine. My skin FELT like sandpaper, though, it was kind of crazy. By day 6 you can see the “mends” which are the darker sports that eventually can be sloughed off with a gentle exfoliating wash (that was my favorite). By day 8, my skin felt fresh and so soft—like a baby. I will definitely be doing this laser 2x a year—next one probably in September!?
And another pillar of wellness are some beauty favorites; yes, I blieve beauty is an integral part of wellness—when you look good, you FEEL good. Taking care of my appearance (like getting dressed, hello!) truly does contribute to my well-being.
