No surprise here that I’m shopping my closet for Spring styles first. You truly don’t need to rush to the stores just yet (hello, snow in April), even though we’re all seeing the Spring content and stores switch over to flowy sundresses and lightweight knits. Take a moment to rediscover the gems in your wardrobe you may have tucked away for your Spring outfits!
Colors: If the weather is still chilly where you live, keep the warmer fabrics but reach for the lighter colors. Think sage green, soft pale blue, and delicate blush pink and beige – I’m sure you have at least one of those tucked in your closet somewhere. You know I’m going to say it….bust out those white, cream, and pastel-colored jeans. It’s the PERFECT way to think spring when it’s still gross out.
Shoes: Swap out those winter boots for airy flats or mules. This will transform your outfits instantly to feel more "Spring" even if we’re still wearing layers. Use this opportunity to try the Mary Jane or mesh flats you’ve been eyeing. Dust off the ballet flats.
Sweaters: Switch your chunky sweaters by opting for light to mid-weight sweaters. Yes, as a Chicagoan, a spring sweater is basically its own section in my closet. Spring sweaters are lighter in color and weight and they’re an essential (even during the summer!).
Because you might live in an area like me where Spring is still so unpredictable and can be freezing one day and warm the next, here’s a recent Reel that is an outfit I think it perfect for Winter or Spring already. If you get too warm throughout the day, just wear the white tee under and keep the jacket :)
Here’s how I’d take these recent looks I shared on Instagram and make them feel more “Spring”!
Outfit 1 - Switch the jeans into a lighter wash, or even wear white/off white jeans. I’d also switch out the black boots for a lighter bootie color or white sneaker.
Outfit 2 - Since it’s a neutral outfit already, it truly works for any season. If it’s warmer, I’d change the long sleeve into a short sleeve and swap the striped sweater for a lightweight button up.
Outfit 3 - Switch out the turtleneck for a regular crewneck (or squareneck top) and style with flats or loafers.
