Spring Clean: Closet Clean Out Tips
Plus some extras like Mahjong accessories, underwear, and more
I’m a mom of three boys, one who is now a pre-teen (eek!) so I feel as if I’ve morphed into my own mother and am constantly harping on them to clean up after themselves (I get it, mom. I get it). And because they grow so fast, I tell them to set aside things that no longer fit—it’s a work in progress but necessary at these ages because they grow like weeds.

That’s a great reminder for all of us as we go through our closets this spring. Time to purge the following:
The items that don’t fit, even if the tags are still on
The items you bought for a specific occasion years ago but never wore
The items that you try on but ultimately take off because you don’t feel good wearing it (if you like how you look but need help styling it, KEEP IT, we can work through that)
The items that you used to love furiously but haven’t touched in years and think you’ve gotten enough use from
And here’s a loose guide as to what I like to KEEP:
Dresses that look/feel amazing on. Dresses have a collection mentality to me; I could wear a dress that’s 10 years old and not think a thing of it. If you love it and only wear it a few times a year, keep it.
Bags that you once loved but can’t seem to say good bye. I have a bunch of these. I’m just not ready to part with them—maybe I’ll keep my Celine Trapeze bag forever, you know?
Anything you’d be proud to “pass down.” I feel like I’ll get accused of hoarding but there are things I keep, like jewelry, purses, belts, unique sweaters or jackets, that I’d love to pass down even if I’m not wearing them a ton. So sue me.
And just for fun: I do keep festive pieces that I think would be handy at a costume/theme party, I just separate them in a “costume box” in my basement.
Speaking of spring cleaning, have you seen my IG stories about the ultimate find I scored last week? This bamboo/caned/tortoise table was a FIND at only $175, even if I had to drive to a nursing home and carry it out myself. Thank GOD we recently bought a bigger car (Yukon XL) because that baby was not fitting in the VW Atlast we used to have. I am so excited to put this table in our living room/front room because we never use it and now it gives me a chance to offer more sitting and play some games like Majhong at the table! (I went Mahjong accessory crazy so be sure to check out everything I got on Amazon below)
Some fun links:
This cute Amazon tablecloth for my new game table.
I also bought these Amazon ruffle seat cushions (haven’t arrived yet!). Trying them out before I spring for the $200 Mrs. Alice seat cushions, ya know?
This Mahjong neoprene mat is very cute.
And here are my trusty, blue cordless lamps.
My current favorite deodorant; I’m a natural deodorant gal so I’m not going to sugarcoat it for you— I know I have to reapply after I’m active or on a particularly sweaty day. It’s the nature of the beast.
Did you see my White Lotus outfit round up under $200 on instagram? (Shop it here)
More spring cleaning: buying new sheets from Quince for the guest rooms
I am SO hesitant to change when it comes to makeup—I truly stick with what I know but I have grown weary of the NARS concealer I’ve worn for 10+ years and just ordered this Westman Atelier to try because people rave. Stay tuned.
If you want sexy underwear, don’t look at me—I’m a briefs gal through and through and I randomly bought this 4-pack during a sale in the fall and I think they’re my favorite. The best fitting brief and very comfortable!
See you soon! x
