I mentally packed for weeks, laying out outfits and what not, only to find the weather was about 10 degrees warmer than expected, every single day. That’s ok (it was lovely), but as a results, I had many a sweater/light jacket that I never even wore! It was supposed to be like 65-70 degrees most days and we got up to 85 some days.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much documentation of my outfits in Munich. We were meeting 23 people there for Eric’s Oktoberfest 40th extravaganza and it was jam packed for the few days we were there (and one day I wore a drindl). But again, it was unseasonably warm and no jackets were ever needed—I was HOT.
But we can talk about Italy because that was fun in terms of outfits (and in terms of everything, really—great trip). ITALY. Gosh, what a country. We went to Taormina and stayed at the Four Seasons (the White Lotus hotel!) and it was just as dreamy as it looks. The town is also incredible and Mount Etna is looming in the distance. I say I’d love to go back but there are so many places to see in Italy that I know I have other regions to check off my list first.
As for Rome, I’ll always go back as a home base. My kids are super into the Roman Empire (what man isn’t TBH, my husband included) and it’s a magical city brimming with history. So walkable, gorgeous, with ruins at every turn.
Everything I wore is here but let’s call out some MVPs of the trip:
Adidas Gazelles - comfy and stylish. I don’t care if people say they’re over, I can walk 30K steps in them without a blister.
Not Lulu belt bag - $13 and easy to travel with. Although I do want to upgrade to this suede Quince version.
J Crew Quinn mesh flats - so many women stopped me about these shoes. And they are comfortable enough for walking Italy’s cobblestone streets.
What else is going on?
As you know, I’m a Quince stan, but I bought their 27” carry-on luggage and I don’t know what to think. It looks like it went through a war—probably my fault because I bought the light color. The zipper is also strating to fray which is concerning. And most concerning of all is we set the lock and the combo didn’t work! I basically had to hack into my luggage and will never use the lock again. I bought the same suitcase for Eric and it’s in perfect shape, lock worked, and I’m wondering if maybe I got a dud.
I left my beloved GHD curling iron in Italy and it’ll cost $200 to ship or $500 to overnight it. LOL. Gonna buy a new one AND this refurbished Dyson air wrap I’ve been wanting.
